My Account Balance is Lower / Higher Than Expected

Understanding Balance Discrepancies

When you check your account balance, you may discover it's different from what you expected. You may be missing money or find that you have extra money. This could happen for several reasons, including bank errors, deposits to the wrong account, or unauthorised withdrawals you haven't recognised.

Common Causes of Differences

It's helpful to consider whether you have any outstanding cheques, deposits in transit, or bank fees that you weren't aware of, which can also cause the difference. Additionally, your available balance may differ from your current balance because of pending transactions that haven't yet been processed.

Available vs Current Balance

The available balance also includes any credit if you have a line of credit linked to your current account. This means your available funds might be higher than your actual account balance if you have credit facilities attached.
