How to become a member

To borrow or save with us, you need to become a member.

Unlike a bank, not just anyone can join. Membership of the credit union is restricted to people who meet certain criteria. This is known as a common bond.

Membership criteria

You can join London Mutual if any of the following apply to you:

  • You live or work in the London boroughs of Southwark, Lambeth, Westminster or Camden (check your postcode)
  • You work in health or education (see eligible job titles)
  • You serve in HM Armed Forces, the Reserves, or receive a MOD pension
  • You are employed by Transport for London (TfL)
  • You work for one of our salary deduction partners
  • Someone in your immediate family, living at the same address, is already a member

Get started

Applying for membership is simple and takes around ten minutes.

Membership Application form

If you're applying for a loan, we’ll ask whether you're already a member. If not, we’ll set up your membership as part of the application process.
