Understanding which accounts come with debit cards helps you choose the right banking solution for your needs. At London Mutual, debit cards are only available with current accounts, not savings accounts.
Your Membership Account
When you become a member of the credit union (either by joining to save or applying for a loan), you'll automatically receive a basic Membership Account. This account is designed for savings and accessed via our online banking tools. It does not come with a debit card.
Your Membership Account isn't designed for day-to-day banking use. It doesn't include a debit card, account number, or sort code, and you cannot set up direct debits for bills or withdraw cash from ATMs. However, you can access your savings by transferring money online to an external current account or by taking cash directly at our branch.
Once you apply for membership, confirmation arrives by letter or email. You'll receive your unique Membership Number, which you'll need for online banking registration or when contacting us by email or phone.
Making Us Your Main Account
If you'd like to use us as your main bank account, we offer a range of current accounts. These come with a debit card and all the standard banking tools and features you'd expect from a full-service account.
You can add a current account to your membership when you join us. If you're already a member, you can apply for one at any time to access debit card facilities.
