Why we might decline your membership application

Unlike with a loan application, we don't take into account your financial situation when deciding if you can become a credit union member. Because of this, as long as you are eligible for membership, your application is very likely to go through without problems.

There are a small number of reasons why your application might not be accepted. They include:

  • You don't meet the qualifications for membership (our 'common bond')
  • You are under 18 and don't have authorisation from a parent or guardian
  • Our referencing check indicates that there may be a high risk of fraud or criminal activity
  • You haven't responded to requests for additional information or clarification when you applied

What to do if you're turned down

If your application is not accepted, we'll explain the reason clearly and let you know if there's anything you can do to resolve the issue. In most cases, rejected applications are due to simple problems that can be easily fixed.
