Letting someone else use your debit card

Important security warning

Unless they are authorised to do so by us, you should never share your card or PIN with anyone. Unauthorised use is a breach of the card Terms and Conditions, and we may be unable to compensate you for fraudulent use of the card if we see evidence that you have allowed someone else to use your card, or haven't taken proper steps to protect it.

Adding an authorised user

You can authorise another person to carry and use a debit card linked to your account. To add an authorised user, contact us by phone or visit our branch. We'll need the authorised user's personal information, including their name, address, date of birth, and National Insurance number, to complete a 3rd Party form along with your proof of ID. More information can be found here

Important considerations

Since an authorised user would be able to withdraw money from your account at any time, be sure they are trustworthy and responsible before you provide a card. Your current account is not a joint account - it's a legal contract with you alone. When fraud happens, we may refuse a refund if unauthorised sharing has occurred.
