Providing your UK eVisa

You can use your UK eVisa to confirm your right to work or immigration status through Vouchsafe.

What is an eVisa?

An eVisa is a digital record of your identity and immigration status. eVisas have replaced physical immigration documents such as Biometric Residence Permits (BRPs), Biometric Residence Cards (BRCs), and wet ink stamps or vignettes in passports. Getting an eVisa is free of charge.

eVisas can be used to confirm:

Identity
Right to study
Right to any public services or benefits that one may be entitled to

Who can access an eVisa?

If you have permission to be in the UK for more than 6 months, or for 6 months or less for some types of work or study visa. This includes workers, students, family members of British citizens, refugees, and individuals with Indefinite Leave to Remain.

Using your eVisa through Vouchsafe

This process requires a share code from the UKVI website. Vouchsafe accepts all three types of share code and will direct you to the appropriate GOV.UK page.

Getting your share code

Visit the link to access your UKVI account
Confirm the purpose of the check is accurate (for example, immigration status)
You'll receive a 9-character code containing letters and numbers

Selecting the wrong purpose for your code

If you choose an incorrect purpose when generating your code, it won't work. Return to UKVI and generate a new code with the correct purpose.

Troubleshooting code issues

If your code isn't working, common causes include:

Incorrect share code type was selected
Date of birth doesn't match UKVI records
Code has expired (valid for 30 days)
GOV.UK service experiencing technical issues

Try again or request a fresh code from the GOV.UK website.

Security of your share code

Your code is handled securely and only used to verify your status with UKVI. Share codes are valid for 90 days and can be revoked anytime through the GOV.UK website.
